Rita Scott graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned her Law Degree from the Birmingham School of Law while working full time at Crew & Howell, P.C. and raising two teenage boys. Throughout law school, Rita also acted as Assistant Treasurer for the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar and assisted annually with Divorce on the Beach.

Rita was admitted to the State Bar in 2007 and is an attorney with Crew & Howell, P.C. where she primarily practices in the area of family law including divorce, child custody, post divorce modification, post divorce enforcement, and adoption. She is a Family Law Section Executive Board Member and has served as treasurer of the Family Law Section for 2 years. She has also served as Co-Director of Divorce on the Beach, and Assistant Director of CLE on the Seas. Rita has been recognized for her outstanding service to the Family Law Section. She is a member of the Birmingham Bar and is admitted to practice in the State of Alabama as well as the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama.

Rita has served as a judge for "We the People" constitutional law competition on the State level. She also is a member of the Inns of Court, a professional organization of judges and lawyers.

Rita is married to Romaine S. Scott, III who is also an attorney. She has two grown sons, and in her free time she enjoys visiting with them as well as reading, golfing, gardening and traveling with her husband.
